Home made lasagne today, and by request no less.

It is a hearty dish and just as well as the temperatures out here have fallen back in a big way.

Anyway I have made my own garlic butter (not for vampires) that will go on the heated ciabatta that will compliment and just do the trick nicely.

For dessert it's chocolat flavour Angels' Delight with fresh fruit ... or whatever fruit I have left from the week :-p

London Marathon 2013

Times Read: 659

I’m watching the London Marathon whilst doing a little breakfast as I type, it’s a lazy morning. Yet less than three miles away the security at the Marathon has been upped and is very prevalent and not so lazy at all but also amazing to see is pretty much everyone wearing black arm bands. I hope all goes well for the runners and spectators today.

Help

Has anyone else had trouble with Google Wallet?

I’m trying to buy a prem for my other account and it’s not recognising my ‘method of payment’! I’ve never had trouble before when using PayPal but this is frustrating.

I wouldn’t mind so much but I’m not happy punching my credit card details into a PC at the best of times regardless of how ‘safe’ it may be, guess I’m old fashioned like that.

I don't know that the interface you're trying to use is fully up and running here. I actually (remember I'm in Canada) have never heard of Google Wallet.

You might have to stick to paypal (straight) for a little while longer.

I would love to stick with PayPal but I'm not given a choice it seems as the 'buy prem' link goes straight to 'Wallet'! :-(

Pool

So six weeks and 15 rounds later and I found myself in the final of the Aztec pool competition. It was the best of five frames (unlike the heats which were over three frames) and guess what? I won.

I didn’t post my progress in this competition in case I jinxed myself …. Plus if I had lost I’m not sure I would have posted about it at all. In fact I probably wouldn’t have even posted this but I was coaxed and told that I should be proud.

It was a great afternoon, my daughter and a girl I’ve been seeing was there (blush) with many friends too and I felt really good. Here are a few pictures to gander at.

The main trophy which is not in these pics will be presented at another date (a charity dinner), so I hope to have a few more pics of that soon.

Where to start...

12:32 Apr 13 2013
Times Read: 785

This is not about anyone in particular so don’t think it’s about you. Truth is this is more about me.

I have a relationship of sorts with most members that come my way on this site be it through my journal or by direct PM and indeed in the flesh.

When folk read my journal entries I imagine how they may interpret them, my entries, how they interpret me. I then read their journals and form a view, an opinion of the person by what and how they write in their own journal…. And so the relationship begins.

I guess it’s a relationship of the mind and for most they don’t even know they are in it.

Sometimes I’m blessed with actually meeting members which then takes the relationship to a new place, a physical place where (being human) more private opinions are formed.

Some I have seen on cam and gotten to hear accents and again I form an opinion on that as well as the way in which they speak, the harshness or softness in the voice … I can’t help but to opine on all this. The brain is remarkable how it registers and compartmentalizes these thoughts.

I try to stay objective and am very slow to judge if I even go that route.

I understand that one foolish or silly entry you make is not the whole of you and I smile as I know I have done that too in the past and will do the same again and again.

The quality of my posts is another story as for the most I post for myself as it is my

Journal, that said I like that people read them and am sensitive enough to think that

there are minors on the site so I do find myself thinking on that too.

I find myself guarded on here too, after all it is an internet site. That said I do post

about my daughter and things that I do but nevertheless I guess I remain guarded so I

take that into account when reading members’ journals.

I like my relationship with VR, it is a happy one and long may it last.

When used in the wrong hands it can be spellbinding and very dangerous. It will disappear when you aren’t looking so keep it safe.

My daughter is here for lunch today so she's asked me if I'd make her a pie or lasagne. I will do steak pie with cream potatoes and veg including a steamed spinach dish. Ice cream will follow but 'no' starter as it took the edge off her appertite for the main course last time.

I hope she wants to stay over as I have missed her over Easter as she was in New York with her mom for a spell.

Yes, nailed Skyfall!

Late with so much as always.

I enjoyed it, great film. Why it was knocked so much when it came out I will never know. Action, fun and that sad bit too.

Looking forward to so many more. Did I mention the soundtrack? Go Adele, she rocks.

No April Fools

I stumbled on a TV show called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. This was the American version as apparently we have a show similar here but as I don’t do TV generally I wouldn’t know, in fact I only saw it as I was flicking around for films to record.

The show was how a community comes together under professional supervision (in this episode) to build a riding school with horse barns and a home for the family that run it. The school is for people including children with disabilities to ride. Money was not an issue as they put this place together in no time at all. It was very rewarding to watch.

I was nearly in tears as I think that I read and see so much crap these days that this was a win for the good guys.

The American people never cease to amaze me and I know it’s not just the Americans but they have had a lot of bad press of late.

I use to watch a BBC show- my first 'make over' if you will, and they traded rooms. Two designers went in and remade the room with the help of the team. Also loved a BBC show about garden makeovers- had three host (two guys and red haired lady?) Loved that show. What they could do to a garden. :)

Wish we had more shows like yours.

I don't know if I have watched this show. I tend to avoid reality shows but I did work with children who have developmental disabilities and this was a very worthwhile cause you are speaking about. Many who are autistic and others too get this type of therapy by being introduced to riding horses. I had a few clients who were getting this therapy. Most of what goes on in America is not in the media. What most see is the worst of what happens here and governmental issues and not concerning the average person who is like you or everyone else and just working, raising children and the like.

In a few cases the production staff, and building crews have been sued by the people that received the make-overs, sued on the grounds that codes were violated, and discovered after the fact (and the persons were left to pay for corrections), and in a few cases a families tax bracket changed. So sometimes it does pay to "look a gift horse in the mouth."
